To parents who are visiting this site, I want to let you know that I take the security of the information provided very seriously. The address information provided on the “I Want My MMC” tab will only be used for the purposes of directing a book to that address should someone end up not having a person to forward the book on to. One of my main concerns with setting up this site was to safeguard personal information of the visitors so that no email or address information will be shared with the express exception given above. I want this site to be a safe place for all to visit.

How does this work?

Eight (8) special edition hard bound copies of Misfit McCabe have been created and sent to various parts of the country as a starting point.  The starting points are marked on the map on the home page of this site, since I knew where the books were being sent.  Below are the rules listed in the front of each copy of the book.

1. Upon receipt of this book, read Misfit McCabe. (Keep the packaging.)
2. If you would like, you can go to http://www.misfitmccabe.com/ and indicate that you have received the book and which book you have (this is Book 1 – Purple).
3. After you have completed reading Misfit McCabe, go to the blank pages at the back of the book and write your name and the city and state that you are in.
4. If you haven’t already, update the website with your name and city and state, along with the book number.  The color indicated refers to the map color so you can track how far the book goes after leaving you.
5. If you would like to leave a comment about the book, or ask questions, please do so on the site.
6. Decide who you will give the book to so that they can be the next reader.  It can be your best friend, someone in your school, or someone in another state – you decide.  Please pass it on to someone who will read it and pass it on.  Tell them it is a sacred trust. 
7. Re-package the book and give it to the person whom you have selected.
8. Check the website to see where your book ends up.
9. Special note to teachers:  It might be fun as a class project to track where the books are going and dig up the facts about the places it has been.  Learn about the world based on the travels of a book.

How do I get one of the books?

There are no guarantees, but I have included a page on this site where you can register to receive one of the books.  Fill out the form on the I Want My MMC page and the information will be stored.  If someone in the chain doesn’t know who to give the book to, then I will take the first name on the list (sorted in date order) and provide the information to the person so that the book can be sent on to that name.  They will then be removed from the list and the next person in line will be moved to the top of the list.

What if I don’t know who to give it to?

If you have one of the books and don’t know who would like to read it next, you can let me know by going to the At the End of My Chain page and providing your information.  As soon as I have someone who has requested to receive the book, I will send an email to the email address you provide on the form with the information of where the book should be sent next.

Why don’t my comments appear right away?

Each comment posted will have to be approved prior to it showing on the website.  With the prevalence of spammers today, I want to make sure that no obsence or inappropriate comments are posted.  As soon as I have a chance to review the comments, I will approve them and they will be posted.

Can the book go to other countries?

I would love for the book to travel to other countries. Since it is not being purchased, but given to someone as a used product of temporary ownership, there is no reason why it can not go to another country. In fact, I do happen to know of a paperback copy of Misfit McCabe which is now in the Philipinnes.
